Speech-language therapists
and audiologists
Our 7 full-time speech language therapists and audiologists not only support the 70 deaf children but also have regular parent guidance sessions which allows the parents to continue with the programme at home – one of the pillars of Eduplex’s success.
Eduplex has more than 800 children, of whom 70 are deaf and more than 50% of these deaf children are dependent on financial support.
Maximum use of
Technology
At Eduplex, hearing aids and cochlear implants are used optimally to ensure that all our deaf children have the best access to sound, speech, and language, to improve learning and achieve academic success.
Eduplex has the largest installation of classroom amplification systems in the world, enabling both the deaf and normally hearing children to hear and understand the teacher irrespective of the background noise or where they are seated in the classroom.
These systems contribute significantly to classroom discipline.
At the Eduplex Audiology Centre we offer:
- Parent Guidance – forms an integral part of the programme. Parents become partners with the professionals and, in the case of deaf children, regular sessions of parent guidance are offered to the family in our the specially-equipped Parent Guidance Facility.
- Audiological and Medical Support – Audiological support at the Eduplex is provided by a team of audiologists that follow evidence-based practice.
- Training – Eduplex is not only an educational programme for children and their parents, but also a training facility for professionals (teachers, audiologists / speech and hearing therapists) from around the world, for the education of deaf children in a mainstream school.
To date, professionals from 48 countries
have been trained in our approach to inclusive education to date.
